7 DEADLY SINS FOR LASH EXTENSIONS
The two worst items you can use on your lash extensions. You don’t need these anymore so do yourself a favor and throw them away!
There are some sins in the eyelash extensions world that simply cannot be committed if you want beautiful long-lasting fire lashes.
Eyelash curler - This is the worst sin as not only can it break your natural lash along with the extension, it can pull and permanently damage the hair follicle so DO NOT CURL YOUR EYELASH EXTENSIONS EVER! If you want them curlier, ask your lash tech to give you a stronger curl such as a D or M.
Mascara - this contains oils and will give you poor retention. It will also dry off and clump up and look hideous the next day or will be a b*tch to take off in which you also risk pulling off your natural lashes and damaging them.
Not shampooing or cleaning thoroughly is the most unsanitary one you can make. Mites and microbes live in our hair, and sebum collects in between the hairs, as well as dead skin cells, dust, and makeup. So if you do not clean or shampoo with an oil-free foaming agent, you risk getting an infection as well as lice!
Picking and pulling them - twisting them with your fingers can be satisfying for some (or maybe just to me), but any time you touch your lashes you're transferring dust and oils into them, which helps break down the glue bond and will make them fall off quicker
Sleeping on your side - we lash techs can tell what side of your body you sleep on since on that side there is a lot more friction and that causes them to fall off quicker on one side more than the other
Steam - Steam, sauna, hammams, long-steamy baths, jacuzzis, even putting your face directly under running water, anything that brings heat into your lashes you risk breaking the bond between the adhesive and the lash. Typically in Hugh humidity locations combined with extreme heat, the glue can begin to soften and allow for quicker fallout
Oils - Anything that has oils in your skincare routine should stay away from your lash extensions as oils can soften and loosen the components that allow the extensions to adhere to the natural lash. Sometimes you can even see a dramatic lash fallout after the first application of face oils or heavy eye creams, so beware.
