HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR LASHES DURING QUARANTINE

We're all going through a very difficult time. These are incredible times we're living and we need to make the most of it somehow. So it would be better to spend this time reflecting and repairing. Spring is coming. So start to do some Spring cleaning and organizing. Let yourself go so you can grow stronger. Try new facials and moisturize your hair, including your eyelashes.

Here are some ways you can take care of your brows and lashes during quarantine:

  1. Use a lash serum - It is the best time to use a serum as now you have more time on your hands to take care of yourself and your lashes.

  2. Use Castor (Ricin) oil nightly - This oil stimulates hair growth and is recommended to use as a mask before bedtime since it can leave a film residue that will annoy your vision temporarily if you use too much of it.

  3. Don't pluck your brows - let them grow wild so you can shape them later if you want. It might be a good time to try our new brow lamination and Henna tint while you're at it when we’re back.

  4. Increase your Vitamin C by eating more fruits and veggies - your body needs vitamins naturally found in fruits and vegetables such as Vitamin C, which is also an antioxidant so it is used readily by the body. The best sources are blackcurrants, blueberries, broccoli, guava, kiwi fruits, oranges, papaya, strawberries, and sweet potatoes. Vitamin C helps in the production of collagen which strengthens the capillaries that supply the hair shafts.

  5. Get in your beauty sleep - your cells regenerate during nighttime when we're sleeping so give your hair a good night's sleep now that you don't have to wake up early to go to work in the mornings (for some of you).

  6. Don't pull out your remaining extensions - if you pull them off, you risk damaging the hair follicle and creating a permanent bald spot.

  7. Don't cut your remaining extensions - they'll fall off sooner than you think if you keep using the ricing oil religiously. Just forget about them. If they bother you too much you can gently massage them with oils such as Castor oil or coconut oil to help loosen up the glue.

  8. Avoid Waterproof Mascara - It is a b*tch to get off and you typically end up pulling out a natural lash by mistake to fully clean them. If you're using mascara, use the regular kind that is easy to take off or better yet, use eyelash extension approve mascara.

  9. Take a 'before' or 'now' photo - Now is a good time to take a photograph of the current state of your lashes if you want to compare the growth or simply want cool 'before' and 'after' shots of when you have extensions vs when you don't. You can do this while facing a window or under good even lighting, focusing on your eyes with the camera and taking various photos of your lashes from all different angles like staring straight at the camera, sideways, eyes closed from above, eyes wide open looking up, etc. It will take a second pair of hands or a lot of patience if you want them to be in focus and clear enough to be useful. Keep a note of the lighting or the time of the day so you can come back later on when some time has passed to take an 'after' photo and compare the results.

  10. Don't go outdoors - we're trying to eliminate a very contagious virus from Paris. The actual number of people infected is higher than those published due to not enough testing. You could get sick. You could already be sick and not even know it. Being sick is bad for your health and lashes. Do it for your lashes. 🙃 Thanks for coming to my Tedtalk.
